Welcome
to the AFRC email list
... a good way to stay in touch
Welcome
to the Appalachian Forest Resource Center listserv, a subscription-based
email discussion focused on community forestry in our region.
This
list serves as a means of communicating with people in the Central
and Southern Appalachian region working with communities and forests.
The list is intended primarily as a way to share upcoming events,
news, ideas, informational resources, and other materials you think
others in the region could benefit from.
It
can also be used for limited discussion of issues of the day
and of ideas on how to develop sustainable solutions to the economic,
social, and ecological challenges that face our forests and communities.
Please
share what you know about what is going on in the region, be it
events, news, or interesting ideas.
Active
sharing can help us learn from each other about the most effective
strategies for the work we do. There will be a diversity of opinions
and political and philosophical beliefs on this list. Please be
open to other ideas and enjoy the access it gives you to others'
perspectives and ideas.
Thanks
for doing the work you do!

The
AFRC list is maintained by Rural Action and was made with q-mail,
an open source mail program. The subscribe, un-subscribe, and help

"subscribe" or "unsubscribe" in the subject

AFRC
email discussion list FAQ:
1.
Yes, you can send attachments to the AFRC list, such as an
article or a photo.
Before
you do this, first determine whether the format and/or size of the
attached files could render them unreadable, cause a mailbox overflow
or a computer freeze. Plain text (.txt), Portable document format
(PDF), GIF or JPG formats are dependable formats for sharing.
Many
email programs limit incoming mail to 50K total per message.
2.
There is no limit on message length other than the capacity
of your mailbox. But there may be limits on other members' mail
service (Yahoo and Hotmail, for example).
3.
You can use a signature file in your messages (try to restrain
it to as few lines as possible)
4.
When you reply to a message, or when you copy another message
or discussion thread to your mail, make sure that you trim off the
extensive "quoted" headings, signatures and unnecessary
verbiage that can slow a mail system.
Conversely,
respect the rights of authors who allow free distribution of their
materials provided credits and acknowledgments are left intact
when they are shared.
